Features & Advantages

  • Hydra Lake Clear is an eco-friendly composition of sequestrants and natural minerals that quickly removes blanket weed, string algae, and slime.
  • Completely biodegradable product with action similar to that of barley straw minus the long waiting periods.
  • No need to wait for weeks to get results, no bad odour or decaying straw to remove from the water.
  • Gives healthy, clean water by starving the blanket weed/string algae. Chelates and absorbs most pollutants of water including phosphates and nitrates, which are important for blanket weed to survive.
  • Easy to use granules that can be simply broadcast upon the affected surface.
  • Acts immediately. No toxic effects.
  • Safe to use in water with fish or any other form of aquatic life. Poses no danger to birds, invertebrates, reptiles, wild or pet animals, water plants, human and mammals.
  • No effect on biological filters or pumps. Compatible to use on all large pond surfaces/liners (synthetic or concrete).

Hydra Lake Clear is a special formulation for the removal of blanket weed in lakes or other large bodies of water. It is a favoured product of various ground keepers including those taking care of fishing lakes, stately homes, golf courses, leisure parks, angling clubs and boat docks.

Broadcast (like you would if applying grass seed) over area to be treated and leave for 2-3 days.

During this time the blanket weed should die off (turning grey or jelly consistency).

Remove dead blanketweed. If any remain, reapply and repeat Hydra Lake Clear.

NOTE – If blanketweed is very thick, it may take several treatments.

It is possible, that new blanketweed will reappear in patches. Retreat as before.

This very easy to use product worked a treat in our lake. It is safe with all the wildlife and has made our lake stand out again. Great product and a must have.

Happy customer
Wednesday, 15 May 2019  |

I used to use Barley straw to get rid of the blanketweed in the lake but the smell, mess and work that went into removing it was a nightmare. There had to be an easier solution and Lake Clear was the answer. It was easy to use and the blanketweed came to the top all clumped together and was very easy to remove from the lake. Very happy

Problem solved
Monday, 29 April 2019  |

Our anglling club has blanketweed in patches, I phoned hydra to find out how much I needed. The lady was very knowledgable and told me how to tackle the problem. After receiving my product very promptly, I did as she instructed and can gladly say the blanketweed had cleared up and I now have it maintained.

Hydra Lake Clear (Commercial Blanket Weed Remover)
Saturday, 13 May 2017  |

From an oozing mess of green slime, I sprinkled by hand the tiny granules of Hydra Lake Clear, using the wind to accurately target settlement on top of the weed. After a couple of days the slime began turning ash grey, then the wind direction changed and it all began to disappear. It is a pleasure again to have back clear open water.
