Dose Rate - 1:500

Add 100ml HYDRA CEBO to 50 litres of fuel.

HOW DO KEROSENE CETANE BOOSTERS WORK

Diesel engines require a minimum cetane number to run correctly. In Europe, Kerosene is manufactured to a UK specification, i.e., BS2869:2017 class c1 and c2. Fuel meeting this specification has a minimum cetane number of 49.

Hydra CEBO Cetane Booster delivers an increase in cetane number to your Kerosene. It will increase the cetane number by 4 to 8 points, depending on the quality of the fuel being treated. It contains 2-EHN (2-Ethylhexyl Nitrate) plus additional lubricants. We add extra lubricants to counter the fuel drying effect that 2-EHN and Kerosene has compared to Diesel fuel. These lubricants also reduce friction inside the engine, helping to improve fuel economy.

Hydra CEBO provides an economical route to meeting quality specifications and a platform for creating premium fuels. Improves fuel combustion by reducing the ignition delay period resulting in easier cold starting, reduction in white smoke, harmful emission reduction and reduced noise from the engine. Better fuel combustion means improved fuel economy.

HOW CAN YOU TELL GOOD QUALITY KEROSENE

The overall quality of Kerosene is dependent on several factors. These include BTU value, viscosity, pour flow point, aromatic and paraffinic content, and resistance to contaminant build-ups such as water and bacteria. Kerosene's quality also is very dependent on its cetane number.

The cetane number (CN) is an index of the ignition point or combustion quality of fuel and is measured using an ASTM D613 test. This is the point where the fuel will self-ignite under pressure inside the engine cylinder.

Standard Kerosene has typically a minimum cetane number of around 49. When refineries produce basic Kerosene, they will only work to the minimum cetane number, as they want to manufacture as cheaply as possible.

With modern vehicles depending on engine design, driving conditions, and so on, the optimum cetane value for most vehicles is around the mid to high 50s.

A fuel with too low a cetane number for a particular engine will result in reduced cold-start ability, rough running, excess engine noise/vibration and reduced combustion quality.

This leads to reduced performance, excess emissions, and carbon build-up throughout the engine and emission system components (intake, EGR, DPF) etc.

A higher cetane fuel that is a proper match for the engine will reduce ignition delay, improve overall combustion quality, liberate more BTU (energy) from the fuel, and improve performance and MPG.

It also will reduce engine noise, deposit build-up, and exhaust emissions. Kerosene with a cetane number lower than minimum engine requirements can cause rough engine operation. They are more challenging to start, especially in cold weather.

Many low cetane fuels increase engine deposits resulting in more smoke, increased exhaust emissions and greater engine wear.

Using fuels that meet engine operating requirements will improve cold starting, reduce smoke during start-up, improve fuel economy, reduce exhaust emissions, improve engine durability and reduce noise and vibration.

Hydra CEBO delivers an increase in cetane number to your Kerosene. It will increase the cetane number by up to 8 points depending on the quality of fuel being treated.

WHAT SHOULD I LOOK FOR IN A CETANE BOOSTER?

Contrary to some disinformation, alkyl nitrates still offer the most significant improvement in cetane number, with measured increases of up to eight points.

When it comes to alkyl nitrates, 2-ethylhexyl nitrate (2-EHN) is the most popular and respected. It offers a more consistent ignition quality whilst reducing unwanted and adverse combustion conditions.

Fuel additive manufacturers recognise both the benefits of boosting the cetane number and using 2-EHN so much now that most offer cetane improvers.

SO WHAT DO WE RECOMMEND AND WHY

Active cetane improvers are essentially a form of fuel modification, or more accurately, combustion modification.

However, when combined with the correct fuel catalyst technology, and lubricity additives, they can turn Kerosene into diesel fuel that will perform well in all Diesel engines.

Rather than introduce another diluted cetane booster, Hydra decided to release a concentrated chemical product Hydra CEBO that contains 100% active ingredients. It provides optimum increases in cetane whilst being able to treat multiple tanks of fuel rather than just one.

Hydra also added their low Sulphur, low-temperature lubricant to improve quality further.

It contains a minimum of 95% 2-EHN. The remainder is a specialist lubricant blend that protects the entire fuel system against the harmful effects of low lubricity and low Sulphur fuels.

This results in an optimum combustion condition, comprehensive fuel system protection with performance increase, and a reduction in harmful exhaust emissions.

INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS

Our products are manufactured to the highest specifications at our UK plant, which is accredited to ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018.

How To Use: Hydra CEBO Cetane Booster

Add to fuel tank then top up with new fuel. Fuel tanks being treated should be at least 10% full. Usual dose at 1:1,000 to 1:500 depending on quality of fuel and performance increase required. Can be used in all grades of diesel fuel including biodiesel fuels.

Dose Rate - 1:1000 Add 50ml Hydra CEBO to 50 litres of fuel. (1ml per litre of fuel)

Dose Rate - 1:500 Add 100ml Hydra CEBO to 50 litres of fuel. (2ml per litre of fuel)

What is cetane boost?

Hydra CEBO cetane boost contains 2-EHN (2-ethylhexyl nitrate) plus lubricants, these lubricants overcome the potential drying effect of 2-EHN and ensure that your fuel has the maximum lubrication possible, reducing the HFRR Wear Profile to less than 300.

What is the best diesel cetane booster?

The best cetane booster should always contain 2-EHN (2-ethylhexyl nitrate) blended with low sulphur lubricants, which will reduce the friction in the cylinder thereby improving the coefficient of friction, reduce corrosion and help improve fuel economy.

Should I use cetane booster?

If you are not buying a premium grade it is always a good idea to use a product containing a cetane booster, as generally cheap supermarket fuel does not have a high enough cetane number to get the best out of your engine.

Do cetane boosters work?

They are an essential part of a diesel fuels chemical make-up, the more bio diesel percentage in your fuel the more important it is to use a fuel additive containing a cetane booster.

Is this adblue?

No, this is added to your diesel fuel tank to improve the performance of diesel fuel.
